Jumping Armadillo Software
So what's the deal with the armadillo then?
It all started back before I even wrote AutoInsult, back in 1997. I was working on some pre-production code and we needed a visual indication when a client was connected to a server and when it wasn't, and I looked though the resources on Visual C++ v4 (I think it was) and found this:
I wrote it into the client that when the armadillo was jumping, it was connected to the server and when the armadillo was stationary it was not connected. It amused me and my colleages.
As it happened, a few weeks later one of my colleagues mailed round an email with the original Shakespearean Insult Generator in it (pick one word from each column and put 'Thou' in front) and I figured I could knock up a quick application that could do that for you. And so AutoInsult was born. I needed the name of a publisher to publish it with and so created Jumping Armadillo Software. Ever since then, AutoInsult and Jumping Armadillo Software have been inextricably linked.
